Philipp Plein showcased his SS16 collection during Milan fashion week. There were 39 looks that passed the runway. Courtney Love accompanied by two robot guitarists were in charge of the music. This season’s inspiration for the collection was hip-rock. A fusion between hip-hop, rock, and heavy metal. This inspiration made Plein land on naming his collection Plein Punk. As you would suspect from a punk collection, the main colors were white and black. The looks decked in circular, square, and triangular studs, chains as well as a little bit of leather here and there. The venue itself looked futuristic. The venue looked like you were sitting in a spaceship. This is because of the presence of a clear runway, robots next to the catwalk, and just the general sci-fi decorations
Runway rundown
The show’s looks were all very punk rock. You could find studs everywhere: on dresses, shoes, skirts, jackets, and almost every other shown clothing item. The first section of the Philipp Plein SS16 show was more focused on the white clothing looks. The white looks were often paired with silver details. In the second section, the catwalk’s looks turned black with a pop of a berry colored red every now and then. The silver was also a detail that was incorporated into the black looks. This made the looks consistent and kept the vibe edgy. In conclusion: it was as if you were looking at cool and edgy street outfits in a spaceship, which was a special yet fun experience.
