During Milan fashion week, Ian Griffiths showcased the SS16 collection he designed for Max Mara. The collection looked like it was inspired by the American flag. The stars and stripes that represent America were very present in the presented looks. Even though Max Mara knows its classics, he managed to fit some modern new knitwear pieces in his collection. 42 looks represented Max Mara’s Spring Summer collection.
The show’s colors were mainly black and white. Griffith decided to play with different lengths of arms and legs and asymmetric details throughout the entire show. The creative director chose to give the show a colorful intermezzo with red, yellow, and light blue pieces. The show then ended with more black and white patterned outfits that are signature to the brand. Almost all the pieces in the collection were patterned. They were eyecatching but classy nonetheless. Max Mara sure knows what to do to keep their clothes modern but chique at the same time. In conclusion, the show was classy yet modern and had a lovely colorful surprise.
Backstage, Sebastien Lewyllie snapped some of the outfits and make-up looks that were shown on the runway. In the pictures, you can see the colorful looks and a close-up of the hair and make-up that complimented the pop of color in the fashion show.
