During Milan fashion week 2016, Elisabetta Franchi showcased their AW16 ready-to-wear collection. The collection was inspired by Cirque du Soleil. This is immediately visible when you take a look at the runway. Bright orange and dark blue flood the venue. You can see the link with the circus but in the most tasteful manner. The main colors shown in the looks are brown, dark blue, light blue, teal, bright red, and teal.
The show started out with monochromatic looks. Black, brown, white, and gold clothes with all types of lengths and textures. Fringes, cords, and always a tasteful bag in hand. The first half was classy, chique, and tasteful. Then, the second half of the show was very much in line with the colors of the venue. Orange, white and blue were the true eye-catcher of the second half. As well as the sequins and crystals that made a shiny appearance.
The runway turned into a live color pallet that could match a Cirque du Soleil scene easily. To sum up the show, everything was there, except for the dancers on trapezes and life-threatening tricks. It was obvious that a lot of thought went into the show. From the colors of the venue all down to the change of colors from the first to the second half of the show. If there is one thing that screamed colorful this fashion week, it surely was Elisabetta Franchi’s show.
Sebastien Lewyllie went backstage and photographed the glitter and glamour in all its glory. His pictures result in up-close pictures of the outfits and the make-up looks that were seen on the runway. The pictures have a dark vibe and the vibrant colors of the outfits balance this out very well. Scroll down to see exactly what we mean.
